ASSISI AND ITS HISTORY

2 OR 3 DAYS
An encounter with the Umbrian town of Assisi, cradle of Giotto’s pictorial revolution and Franciscan mysticism. Visit to the Basilica of San Francesco with Giotto’s splendid cycle of frescoes on the life of the Saint, and other masterpieces by Lorenzetti and Simone Martini.
Also recommended are visits to Santa Chiara’s Church, San Rufino’s Cathedral, the Piazza del Commune and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli with the Porziuncola. Not to forget the hermitage; Eremo delle Carceri, and the Church of San Damiano outside the city walls.
1° DAY
· Arrival in Assisi and check-in at Ostello della Pace.
· First ecounter with the city; walk to the historic centre.
· Dinner and overnight stay at the hostel.

2° DAY
· Guided tour of the museum and palaentological sites of Monte Subasio Park.
· Lunch break.
· Guided tour of the city (3 hours)
· Dinner and overnight stay at the hostel.

3° DAY
· Hike to the Eremo delle Carceri and to San Damiano’s Church.
· Lunch break
· Day trip to one of the following Umbrian cities by one’s own means: Spello, Perugia, Gubbio, Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto or Lago Trasimeno.
· Dinner and overnight stay at the hostel.

ENROLEMENT FEE FOR AT LEAST 20 PARTICIPANTS

· 2 or 3 nights stay at Ostello della Pace in a dormitory of 4, 6 or 8 beds with bathroom facilities on each floor, and private rooms for teachers.
· Half-board including dinner on the day of arrival up to the breakfast on the day of departure.
· IYH Membership card
· Tour guide for 3 hours
